MISSION

The Filipino American Development Foundation (FADF) strengthens the social, physical, emotional, cultural, and economic well-being of the Filipino American community in the San Francisco Bay Area by providing access to resources, financial support, and opportunities to connect and network in a vibrant community of families, educators, students, elders, artists, community leaders and organizers.

Theory of Change

At FADF we envision a thriving Filipino-American community where all members have access to resources, support, and opportunities to thrive economically, socially, culturally, emotionally, physically, and artistically.

To make this vision a reality, we believe that:

  • Filipinas/os/x be fully resourced, supported, and nurtured so that they can thrive economically, socially, culturally, physically, emotionally, and artistically/creatively.

  • FADF staff, including FADF programs, and its fiscally sponsored organizations that support and serve the Filipino community as leaders, organizers, activists, artists, educators, and healers are able to sustain a balanced and healthy life.

  • Our communities are heard, seen, and valued by those who hold power over resources.

  • Filipino American history and culture are integrated into the community's educational experience.

  • Racial and socioeconomic barriers to economic opportunity are eliminated to provide pathways for all BIPOC to thrive economically.

  • The community has the resources to heal from trauma brought on by racism and colonization.

  • Filipinos have the space and time to honor their past, present, and future art and culture.

  • The Filipino community is no longer under threat of displacement.

VISION

FADF’s vision provides the necessary support to strengthen and empower Filipino Americans, enabling community hubs to develop resources and assets that can benefit the local and broader community. FADF believes the Filipino cultural value of bayanihan, which means mutual assistance and mutual caring is the catalyst for  community self-development and sustainability.
